Perpetual Optimism

Running circles in my mind
Trying to connect the dots
Chasing my friends
Doing cartwheels in my sleep
Dancing in and out of time
Trying to untangle
A pendulum of knots
Over and over again
Never finding my way back
To the frame of
My own mind
Slipping and sliding
Past the point of no return
Furiously frustrated
From the void of reasoning
With a snake
That I befriend
And sway and sing
Along with
In harmony and rhythms
I never knew existed before

Memories of broken glass

Shattered by pain

All my energy is sapped

From a life

That I once knew

Hopelessly lost

Perpetually satisfied

By the pure defiant persistence

Of my resilient heart and mind

I fail to fall down

And be taken under

By the sorrows of my past

Our Job In A World of Fear

No matter how much time passes
The pain is there as if today
There are no rose colored glasses
To blur the scar of yesterday

As I watched in agony
A river flowed down my face
I couldn’t help only see
The dust fill up every space

Heroes and victims
We have them both
Moments of silence
Brings forth the truth

Loved ones and strangers
No diff’rence to us
Turmoil and dangers
God is who we trust

A world drowning in fear
Cannot see the promise we do
Show them God is so near
And His word forever is true

Shine the light of God most high
Share His love with everyone
We don’t know but He knows why
Trust in Him and in His Son

Reach out, be there
Listen, love and care
Hug them, repair
Replace their despair

It’s not too late
Use this time, now
No time to wait
To show them how

Fear not for yourself
Fear not at all
For faith is your wealth
Answer His call

Empathy and sympathy
And Feel for your neighbor
This is all a recipe
To work for your Savior

One White Dove

When I drove by a cow farm
Looking all a mess
A flock of rock doves took off
Not knowing they would bless
But as I glanced up
To watch their beautiful flight
I noticed something wonderful
Only one was completely white
It didn't act any different
Though I could see its glory
It flew with the rest of them
And inspired this lovely story
It didn't fly at the top
To show itself the best
It flew just where it ought to
Moving along like the rest
Now, in my mind, I've come to know
This had a special meaning
That when we're out with our friends
We're so beautiful and gleaming
But we mustn't put ourselves above another
For then we'd look a fool
But to show them the way to go
That's a powerful tool
We stay right by their side
Not leaving or forsaking
Because they'll learn the truth
While stumbling and mistaking
Some would say it was just a gene
And drive right on bye
But, to me, when I looked
A message was clear in the sky
For I want to be that one, white dove
That helps guide the way
To stay by my friends and help them
Love, heal and pray
